Fashion graduate Kimberley Wheeliker has set up a business on site at The University Centre Doncaster – making bespoke wedding dresses.
Kimberley, 25, of Conisbrough, has launched Sheba Bell Design at the High Melton campus after graduating from the Centre’s BA (Hons) Fashion course in 2007. The new company was inspired by the new course she is enrolled on – the Business Start-Up course at the Centre, which helps graduates find their feet in their chosen industry.
The 20 week Business Start-Up course consists of a series of interactive workshops, group discussions, portfolio development, specialist mentoring, networking and group support.
As a recent graduate Kimberley benefited from being given space on site at the University Centre, to set up Sheba Bell Design and has use of the equipment in the fashion studio she is in. In addition Kimberley can also call for help from the College’s marketing and web team to help promote her business.
Kimberley designs bespoke traditional and modern wedding dresses and occasion wear from the countryside campus.
She said: “I went to Doncaster College straight from school and studied art and never thought I’d end up designing dresses. But when I started doing work, I realised I liked fashion and ended up doing a degree in it.
“I just love fashion and love making dresses so for that to be my business is just great. This is my full-time job. I have been at the College and University Centre for the past eight years studying various things and they have really set me up for a life in the fashion industry.”
