Global Entrepreneurship Week 2009

GEW launched this year at The British Library on Monday 16th November. It featured globally recognised figures who shared the opportunities that they have taken and those they believe we must take now to drive the recovery, including:

• Senior Cabinet Minister
• Matt Brittin, UK Managing Director, Google
• Peter Jones CBE, Entrepreneur and star of BBC’s Dragons’ Den
• Julie Meyer, Founder & CEO of Ariadne Capital and Managing Partner of the
   Ariadne Capital Entrepreneurs Fund
• Jim O’Neill, Head of Global Economic Research, Goldman Sachs
• Carl Schramm, President and CEO, Kauffman Foundation
• David Wei, CEO & Executive Director, Alibaba.com.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is a worldwide movement of entrepreneurial people, with millions unleashing their enterprising talents and turning their ideas into reality. During Global Entrepreneurship Week thousands of events are run in the UK and across the world to encourage people to be entrepreneurial. It creates mass participation and exposes people of all ages and abilities to quality enterprise experiences – from school students to university graduates and from employees to enterprising people looking to get back to work.

Global Entrepreneurship Week Day 4 was Social Enterprise Day. Duncan Goose of One Water launched the One Big Idea competition whilst entrepreneur James Caan speaks about starting a business at the Flyingstart event.
