Spotlight on: Enterprising Places Network

The Enterprising Places Network (EPN) run by Make Your Mark (MYM) is hosting a roundtable event at Government Office for London which will discuss:

“Local Area Agreements and Enterprise –
How are performance frameworks supporting enterprise on the ground?”

Facilitated by key participants the discussion will focus on changes to the delivery and direction of local economic development and enterprise support. It will consider the sub-national review (SNR), how councils, partners and businesses are working together in the recession, and the role of the newly established Regional Improvement & Efficiency Partnerships (RIEP’s).

The London event is by invitation only. However if the London discussion topic has grabbed your attention and you are interested in hosting an interactive debate in your area round key enterprise themes why not get involved with EPN?

The EPN aims to bring together champions of enterprise practice across the UK, capture the experiences of local development, share inspirational stories and catalyse debate around key elements of enterprise and entrepreneurship. This includes enterprising Local Authorities, Regional Development Agencies, place-based local enterprise initiatives and enterprising Chambers of Commerce.

The network offers a number of key benefits, including:

  • Getting involved in lively interactive debate and networking opportunities
  • Hearing from and influencing key policy makers
  • Raising the profile of your work locally and nationally
  • Accessing Make Your Mark’s insight and knowledge base
  • Catalysing local enterprise activity

The network provides a mix of information, advice, news, articles, discussion and interactive content through:

  • The Enterprising Places Forum – a fully interactive online discussion space
  • Regular webcasts – focused on people delivering enterprising initiatives, young people with enterprising ideas, those impacted by a new enterprise culture in their area, business that have worked to make a difference and key players who have championed the cause
  • Podcasts – collecting enterprise news from the network and campaign. Along with interviews with key people and ambassadors
  • Regional events – one event each quarter
