Join Shine 09 and celebrate young talent
This month in the run up to national Shine Week 2009 we hear from Laura Oakley Shine Week Manager to find out more about the week and how to get involved.
Shine 09 is a national celebration of the talent in all young people. Embracing the energy
and enthusiasm of young people and those who work with them, Shine Week,
taking place from the 6th-10th July creates a real buzz across the
country and in the media and is a really exciting way to celebrate young
people’s talents.
This week long celebration of talent, pays tribute to the performing
arts, technology, science, community work and so much more. Shine is an
opportunity to recognise
the many talents and achievements of young people and the very positive contribution they make to our society and our future.
All schools and organisaitons who join Shine 09 can access their own page on the Shine 09 website where the young people you work with can upload film, sound, word and pictures and keep their own blog in the run up to Shine Week. You will also be sent a free Event Pack which includes a range of posters, stickers and certificates to use at your events during Shine Week and you can download a free Media Pack from the website to help you gain publicity for your events.
A wide range of activities take place during Shine Week including performances, exhibitions, workshops, talent shows, gigs, community projects, film making, design competitions, sports events, gardening projects, cultural celebrations and circus skill workshops. The range of activities that can be run as part of the week are as vast and varied as the talents of the young people involved!
