The search is on to find the UK’s most enterprising place

Could your local area be the UK’s most enterprising place for 2009? The search is on to find areas that have been transformed through innovation and enterprise in the Enterprising Britain competition.

The competition launched on the 25 February so if you believe your local areas should be crowned this year’s most enterprising place don’t delay find out more and get involved today.

The competition seeks to celebrate the successes of enterprising local areas, highlighting achievements and providing inspiration to others on how to support enterprise in their areas in order to emerge from the current economic climate stronger.

Now in its fifth year the Enterprising Britain competition is open to: villages; towns; cities; parishes; and neighbourhoods that can demonstrate the impact enterprise has had on their community in the last two years. Whilst entries are welcome from private sector-led partnerships the competition is not open to individual businesses or entrepreneurs.

The first stage is a regional competition to select an Enterprising Britain regional winner. This will be managed by Regional Development Agencies and Devolved Administrations in partnership with Make Your Mark. Regional competitions will be open from 25 February to 30 April 2009 with an announcement of regional winners expected in June 2009.

Once selected regional winners will enter the national competition which will culminate in an awards ceremony in October 2009 where the national winner of Enterprising Britain will be announced.

The Enterprising Britain competition is also used to identify the UK entries to the European Enterprise Awards where projects can gain European recognition.
