Spotlight on the World Entrepreneur Society (WES)
This month EnterpriseUpfront finds out more about the World Entrepreneur Society (WES) portfolio of products prior to its forthcoming 2009 Summit in London on 20th March. We will focus specifically on the one day annual Summit with themed academic research and the WES Academy as these will be of particular interest to EnterpriseUpfront readers.
Other activities include the WES Forum and the WES Academy.
The Summit 2009
The WES Summit is aimed at all types of entrepreneurs ranging from investors and business support professionals to business support agencies and academics. The one day event will focus on promoting the role of entrepreneurs in a sustainable global economy and helping entrepreneurs form the partnerships and networks needed for success.
WES 2009 is built around four themes:
• Environmental entrepreneurship
• Youth entrepreneurship
• Social and sustainable entrepreneurship (including economic development issues)
• Global innovation and growth: entrepreneurship beyond the borders
In addition, for this Summit there are three special areas of interest to WES Members:
• Entrepreneurship in the over fifties
• Women’s entrepreneurship
• Measuring entrepreneurial activity and impact
Delta Economics, Make Your Mark, Prowess, unltd, The Big Issue, i-genius, Sustainability and Business Week will facilitate the workshop-style event as part of the main event to encourage discussions around the themes.
The Summit will also include the launch of the WES Academy which is described as the ideas’ engine behind WES events and provides:
• Diverse styles of training and education for students, budding
entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs and companies who want to build
entrepreneurial thinking into everything they do.
• Internships and project work globally including opportunities to
develop experience with leading edge online news and media technologies
• High quality research, evidence-based policy and commercial advice and
thought leadership through its sister company, Delta Economics.
