British Businesses Getting British Business Online
In February’s edition of Enterprise Upfront we reported on the launch of ‘Getting British Business Online’, a new partnership of enterprise and communication giants working together to help British SMEs set up their first website throughout 2010.
In addition to the leading partner delivering this service, American IT giant Google, several UK-based companies specialise in the market of website building offering services.
These services include securing domain names and hosting services amongst others – the following British businesses are getting British business online:
‘Mr Site’ (www.mrsite.com) an award winning website building software is an affordable answer for business with varying degrees or IT literacy. With a beginner package of £19.99 through to a professional package at £99.99 businesses with the software have the means to build a website that includes email addresses, multiple pages, a secure shop and photo galleries at it’s most basic level.
‘Webfusion’(www.webfusion.co.uk) supply hosting services for business websites that range from a basic £3.95-a-month package to custom server packages tailored to individual needs. Their packages may seem daunting for those with little IT knowledge but the company pride themselves on outstanding customer service easing the transition from offline to online.
‘Moonfruit’ (www.moonfruit.com)
offers a service very similar to Google by building a basic website
completely free of charge with the opportunity to customise it with the
use of your own pictures, colours and menu styles. They also offer a
premium package where for a small fee you can further customise your
site to include extras such as a Free domain name, increased bandwidth
and multiples sites per account.
The UK has one of the most advanced e-commerce markets in the world,
with more than 40m people online. When we consider that as many as 1.5m
of the country’s businesses do not have a website, the plethora of
companies willing to remedy this is a very positive sign for British
business.
