Towards Greater Cooperation and Coherence in Entrepreneurship Education

The European commission have produced a report suggesting that national policy frameworks on enterprise education should be developed by EU members, embracing input from ministries responsible for education, enterprise, the economy and trade.

The development and promotion of entrepreneurship have been strategic objectives of both the EU and member state policies for many years and have continued to rate higher in importance, this report explores the routes that states can take towards a comprehensive system on delivering enterprise education across the EU.

Results from a series of reflection panels, convened last year, suggest that stakeholder engagement is critical, with businesses providing students with opportunities to learn about entrepreneurship in action and local authorities forging links between schools and employers.

The report also points out that the EU can help the delivery of enterprise education by establishing a platform where governments and educators can meet to discuss common issues and share best practice. This will be supported by the provision of a research hub to collect and distribute policies and central support.

The report provides:
The findings from the Panels on the current state of play in entrepreneurship education,
especially in relation to the development of entrepreneurship education strategies and their
implementation.

A framework for mapping the area of entrepreneurship education, building strategy, priority
setting and action, using a progression model developed from the discussions of the Panels.

A ‘cook book’ of good practices which show how to address key areas within the progression
model.

Recommendations for action at EU level to support developments within Member States.
