Getting British Business Online

Last edition we introduced you to ‘Getting British Business Online’ (GBBO), Google’s campaign to get the small and medium sized businesses of Britain online. The campaign which offers free websites to enterprise across the country was brought to life when research by the search engine showed that over 1.5 million enterprises in Britain have no active web presence.
The Getting British Business Online Campaign aims to change the number of business without an online presence by offering entrepreneurs a free professional business website. The joint initiative between Google, BT, Enterprise UK and e-skills UK, Getting British Business Online has already helped over 70,000 small businesses.
The campaign boasts that the process of building your website using this initiative should take no more than 20 minutes. By simply providing basic details about the business such as the address and a description of the product and/or services the website is started. The so called ‘website wizard’ completes the site taking the user through each stage completely free of charge.
