uBiz Enterprise Education

uBiz Enterprise Education (uBizEE) is an new initiative in enterprise education which is designed to provide students with real life business skills.

uBizEE is a real print-shop business designed to be run by students as part of their enterprise education. A uBizEE centre can be set up within any school and aims to promote innovation, creativity, risk management and an entrepreneurial spirit amongst students.

The last quarter has been one of the busiest periods yet for the project’s installation team, with four new uBizEE companies setting up in schools across the North.

Through the operation of a uBizEE centre, the programme aims for students to develop entrepreneurial skills as well as the drive and determination to achieve success in business, in addition to this the programme enables students to develop the ability to handle uncertainty and the knowledge to make informed decisions about their future careers as their experience with the centre is real.

Each uBizEE centre is a real business. It has profit and loss accounts, it has members of staff and a management team, it needs to advertise its services and produce quality products to be successful and like every other business, a start up cost is incurred.

The uBizEE team claim that the process can however, show how much the cost can be offset against real savings that participants can make compared to outsourcing any print requirements.

The company run by students can produce all in-house print needs as the school becomes the customer, and the initiative claims that often a uBizEE centre can prove to be self funding.
