One Big Idea
Enterprise UK has continued
with an exciting initiative this year that asks entrepreneurs to come
up with ‘One Big Idea’ for an enterprise that could potentially change
the lives of thousands of people in developing countries.
The competition is open to all, including schools, colleges and youth organisations across the country. They’re asking people to come up with an ethical and sustainable business solution that will help a community in the developing world. Past winners of the One Big Idea initiative have changed the lives of thousands.
Examples of which include ‘One Water’, whose profits fund PlayPump
water systems, ‘One Vitamin Water’, profits of which fund vegetable
gardens and ‘One Condoms’ where the profits fund HIV testing in Africa.
The profits form the next winning One Product will go on to fund humanitarian projects in Malawi.
Entries will be judged by celebrities and entrepreneurs including BBC
Dragons Duncan Bannatyne and Doug Richard, Peter Marks, The Co-operative
Group Chief Executive, and Duncan Goose, award winning Social
Entrepreneur and Founder of One Water amongst others.
The winner will be closely involved with all aspects of the production of their enterprise, from sourcing their product to seeing the design roll off the production line and on the shelves in selected Co-operative stores.
