The Skills Factor

Do you have what it takes to develop an idea and bring it to fruition, demonstrating your skills along the way?
Skills Factor is a competition organised by Young Chamber UK for 12 to 19 year olds who want to show they have the skills, initiative, creativity and discipline to enter the world of work.
Teams from schools, colleges or youth organisations have to develop business ideas, show how they would be put into action, and demonstrate the personal and business skills they have learned along the way.
Finalists have to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges that this year included Tony Sarin, Chairman of K2 Partners, who specialises in raising funds for turnarounds and developing businesses. The competition is supported by the British Chambers of Commerce.
The idea, product or concept can be commercial, charitable or social in nature, but remember that as well as demonstrating and showing off your ideas, the competition also wants to see what skills you have learned or developed along the way.
It’s free to enter and open to all young people involved in school or in college.
Entries are also encouraged from youth groups and other youth organisations if they are:
1. Aged between 12 and 19 years of age
2. In some form of full or part time education or training programme
The deadline for completed entries is 9 March 2012.
