February Edition

Welcome to the latest edition of EnterpriseUpfront, your bi-monthly e-zine for current developments in enterprise, bringing you the latest news, views and research.

We’re now well into 2011 and enterprise is high on the agenda for policy makers, educators and communities alike.

This month we take a look at The Government’s plans to sustain Bigger, Better Business, in particular their New Enterprise Allowance which aims to help with the cost of business start up. We gain a further insight into the effect of the formation of Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) on the nation's Universities and we find out all about the enterprise legacy fund that Enterprise UK is leaving behind as it winds down later this year.

We learn about an exciting competition from the Young Chamber that invites students who think they have the Skills Factor to showcase their talents and come up with a great enterprising idea and we find out how the country’s move to a low carbon infrastructure could mean exciting opportunities for businesses with a green agenda. We also take a closer look at the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship’s (ISBE) new special interest group which address the links between gender and entrepreneurship.
