The Skills Factor 2011

The Young Chamber has created a national competition for enterprising teens who want to demonstrate that they have the relevant skills, initiative, discipline and creativity to enter the world of work.
The competition is open to residents of the UK aged between 12 and 19. Entrants must prove that they have what it takes to develop an idea and bring it to fruition, demonstrating any relevant skills along the way.
The idea, product or concept can be commercial, charitable or social in nature, but entrants need to be sure to showcase their ideas whilst remembering to demonstrate what skills they have learned or developed along the way. The competition judges need to see what decisions were made and what processes led to the final product.
It’s free to enter and open to all young people involved in school or in college. Entries are also encouraged from youth groups and other youth organisations if they are:
· Aged between 12 and 19 years of age (at the competition opening in December 2010)
· In some form of full or part time education or training programme
